Refresher Course
If you haven’t been diving for a year or more, depending on your experience level, it may be necessary to complete a refresher course before your dive at Wolf Rock. This ensures you are well prepared to have a safe and great day of diving with us.
Wolf Rock Dive offers refreshers for $170 which includes a theory and pool session taking around 3 hours, longer if you need more time.
All courses have a theory element. There are two options available for the home study:
Purchase the manual from the shop in Rainbow Beach the day before the dive course (a lot of people that are traveling choose this option).
Or, purchase the on-line version, complete the theory at home then a quick review on your day of diving. You pay PADI the fee and pay us the balance.

Discover Scuba Diving
The PADI Discover Scuba Diving programme is a short try-diving experience for adults and children aged 10 years and older. This introduces you to the basics of diving but doesn’t certify you as a diver. The ‘DSD’ is usually a half-day pool activity, if we have good conditions we add the ocean dive for a full day experience. It’s a great option if you’ve been thinking about trying SCUBA for a while but don’t have much time while you’re on holiday. It’s also perfect for building up confidence in the water before jumping straight into a full course.
Open Water Course
So you’ve completed a PADI Discover Scuba Diving programme, and loved it! What’s next? To get certified, of course! After completing the PADI Open Water Diver course, you’ll be certified to dive independently up to 18m, anywhere in the world (with certain exceptions for 10-15-year-olds). The course is longer but highly informative and very rewarding.
The Open Water course is typically 3-4 full days, and consists of knowledge development (involving video lessons, knowledge reviews, quizzes, and a final exam), a water skills assessment, confined water practice sessions, and four open water dives. You’ll also learn how to assemble and disassemble your own kit, and how to care for it properly. In both the confined water and open water dives you will be expected to master a series of essential skills, which your instructor will demonstrate and teach you step by step. We are very weather dependant and though we try to get the full course completed in this time frame the weather can sometimes interfere with the Open water dives. Please be advised flexibility’s required.
Adventure Dives
This is the option for divers who are Open Water qualified and want to dive Wolf Rock, it allows us to safely take you deeper than 18 metres.
The course comprises of 2 of the 5 Adventure Dives needed to become a PADI Advanced Diver – Deep Dive (compulsory) and one other (Boat, Fish identification or Naturalist dive are suitable) There is some home study that must be completed prior to the dives which is simply reading the relevant chapters and answering the knowledge reviews.
The course includes PADI Adventures in Diving manual and instruction.
After the dives we issue you with paperwork to confirm that you have completed these 2 dives, they will count towards the PADI Advanced qualification. The other three dives can be finished anywhere in the world as long as it is with another PADI Instructor/Dive Centre.
Double dive charter with all equipment, 2 x adventure dives and online access to ELearning – $560
*Single adventure dives also available.

You try out different specialties while gaining experience under the supervision of your PADI Instructor. You log dives and develop capabilities as you find new ways to have fun scuba diving.
The PADI Advanced Open Water Course is made up of 5 dives over two days. Two of these dives are compulsory:

PADI Rescue course
The course is designed for anyone who wants to learn how to prevent, and if necessary, manage dive emergencies. The course broadens a diver’s awareness and improves their skills and confidence. Most certified PADI Rescue Divers look back on their rescue training as one of the most challenging – sometimes demanding – and therefore most rewarding courses they’ve taken. The subject is serious but the training is fun.
The course covers a wide range of topics including, The Psychology of Rescue, Recognizing Diver Stress, Accident Management, Assisting Responsive and Unresponsive Divers at the Surface and Underwater, Equipment Problems, Oxygen Delivery Systems, Missing Diver Procedures, Responding to Diver Emergencies and In-water Rescue Breathing.
Then, you’ll complete the in-water training portion of the course. Your instructor will have you complete ten rescue exercises in open water, either with or without initial skills practice in confined water. Finally, you participate in two Rescue Diver Scenarios in open water.

Nitrox
Enriched air, also known as Nitrox or EANx, contains less nitrogen and more Oxygen than regular air.
Due to its depth Wolf Rock is an ideal site to enjoy Nitrox, not only does it massively reduce the risk of decompression illness, it allows divers to spend more time at depth with the Sharks and Rays!
Nitrox is particularly recommended for divers in higher risk group for example being older or overweight.
The Nitrox course is theory based and available from Open Water certified and higher. You will complete theory, learn how to analyse your cylinder for O2% content, complete record logs and set your dive computer.
The course includes 2 x Nitrox fills which you can use on the day.
Price $180 includes theory, processing fee and 2 Nitrox tanks.
Nitrox fills for $30 for certified divers/introduction to EANx

DEEP
The lure of the deep: It’s a rare diver that hasn’t felt the urge to dive deep. There’s something exciting and mysterious about exploring deeper dive sites while scuba diving. Sometimes it’s a wreck that attracts you below 18 metres, and on wall dives it may be a giant fan or sponge. As a rule, divers tend to be adventurous people, and deep diving can certainly be called that! Whether to see sharks, take photos, or explore different reefs; whatever it is, to scuba dive with confidence at depths down to 40 metres, you should take the PADI Deep Diver Specialty course. This course covers 4 dives over two days.

Drift
Drift diving is a relaxing and enjoyable form of diving that offers an alternative to using lines and other techniques to move against strong currents. The PADI Drift Diver Specialty course teaches you how to enjoy going with the flow as you use ocean currents to glide along. It feels like flying – except that you’re underwater using scuba equipment. Drift diving can be relaxing and exhilarating at the same time. If this sounds like fun, then the Drift Diver course is for you.

Peak Performance Buoyancy
Excellent buoyancy control is what defines skilled scuba divers. You’ve seen them underwater. They glide effortlessly, use less air and ascend, descend or hover almost as if by thought. They more easily observe aquatic life without disturbing their surroundings. You can achieve this, too. The PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty course improves the buoyancy skills you learned as a new diver and elevates them to the next level.

Side - Mount
Side-mount diving is not a new concept, but its application has spread from cave diving to open water recreational diving. As we all know, having scuba tanks on your back isn’t a requirement for exploring the underwater world. Many scuba divers have discovered the joy of mounting cylinders on their sides. Side-mount diving gives you flexibility and streamlining options and presents you with a different approach to equipment configuration and a new set of skills to master. Plus, you don’t have to walk with heavy cylinders on your back – just enter the water, clip them on and go. Sound interesting?
